Frequently Asked Questions

  • What can I expect from a Craniosacral Therapy session? A typical CST session lasts from 60-120 minutes, and takes place in a peaceful, private setting. CST is performed with the client fully or partially clothed and lying on a comfortable massage table. Using a light touch, the therapist evaluates or “listens to” the body for tension patterns and imbalances. The craniosacral system is accessed and treated using the gentle manipulation of the bones and connective tissue. The client should never feel any pain during a session. What is experienced during a CST session is highly individualized. Some say they feel deeply relaxed, while others describe feeling unwinding sensations as the body releases tension. Sometimes, circumstances are recalled surrounding a past trauma or injury that caused the body stress. While this doesn’t happen every time, this process called “SomatoEmotional Release” is perfectly normal and helps the body reverse dysfunction and restore optimal levels of mobility.

  • What is the cancellation policy? Please cancel 24 hours before time of appointment. I offer one pass if something comes up and you have to cancel later than 24 hours before. The second time it happens, I will charge the card on file.

  • What should I do to get ready for my massage? Arrive about five minutes before your appointment time to start the relaxation process and discuss with your therapist any goals or intentions you have for the session. Eating something light and staying hydrated is recommended. Lastly, it is recommend to have cellphones on “Do not disturb,” so that you can fully enjoy your session without interruption.

  • Will I be fully undressed? Yes, you will remain fully dressed or in your undergarments during the session. This is dependent on the goals of the client and what makes them feel most secure and safe during the session.

  • What activities can I engage in after my session? Drink water, eat nourishing foods, and take it easy for the day if possible. You’ve just taken the time to connect with yourself and experience deep release and relaxation. Enjoy that feeling.

  • Can I be massaged in the first, second and third trimester? Yes! It is safe to receive massage in all stages of pregnancy as long as your therapist is specifically trained to massage pregnant women.
